■概要 Summary
This paper has its theoretical foundation in John Blacking’s analysis of musical situations, whereby an intercultural understanding of music and musicality arises from an emphasis on the individual rather than the social. With this in mind, the paper sets out to examine the musicality of the game player by focusing on the player’s creative impulse and individual experience. Conclusions show that a variety of musical situations in video games challenge received elitist musical paradigms by facilitating a space of the expression of individual musicality and creative endeavor.
